When Tony Goldman fell in love with SoHo in the late 1970s, it was a manufacturing district, home to ironclad and masonry buildings that had stood the test of time. He recognized the beauty beneath their weathered facades and found inspiration with one of the greatest collections of cast iron architecture in the world.

Center City, Philadelphia

In 1998, Goldman Properties set its sights on an area of Center City Philadelphia, just east of Broad Street between Walnut and Chestnut streets, that had been occupied by pawn shops, check cashing stores, and adult bookstores. Strategically designed with its grid system of streets and parks, the area offered a rich inventory of 19th and 20th Century architecture that was brimming with potential.
